What is a self-pack removal?

Self-pack removals are a type of hire where we deliver a container to you then you load your belongings into it to be moved to a different location and we move it. The benefit of using a self-pack shipping container removal service is that instead of having to return a truck immediately, as is the case with traditional truck hire services, we can extend the time you have to unpack your belongings as long as is required.

How does it work?

Here are the basic steps to how we organise a shipping container self-pack removal:

• 1. First, you need to get a quote for your self-pack removal. You can do this by filling out the form on this page.
• 2. Once you request your quote, we will contact you to organise the details of your self-pack removal.
• 3. We will then deliver a container to your address.
• 4. You can then load your belongings into the container whenever suits you best.
• 5. Once you have finished loading your belongings, we will pick up the container and move it to your new address.
• 6. You can then unload your belongings at your leisure.
• 7. Once you have finished unloading your belongings, we will pick up the container and the hire is finished.

Is it expensive?

Our rates for self-pack deliveries are reasonably priced. We offer a similar price to our hire service for the base price of hiring the container for the self-pack removal, and delivery is generally provided for a lower price than for a regular hire container in order to make it as affordable as possible (considering the multiple deliveries required). If you are booking a south-to-north move (e.g. Brisbane to Cairns), then the price is generally lower on top of the already low prices.

Things to be aware of

There are a few things to be aware of when booking a self-pack removal:

• 1. You will need to have a suitable place to put the container. This can be on your property, on the street, or in a carpark. If you are putting the container on the street or in a carpark, you will need to get a permit from your local council.
• 2. You will need to have a way to load your belongings into the container. This can be done by hand, or with a forklift or crane. If you are using a forklift or crane, you will need to make sure that the container is suitable for this. Remember that the belongings will also need to be unloaded.
• 3. You will need to make sure that the container is loaded properly. This means that the weight is distributed evenly and that the container is not overloaded. If the container is overloaded, we will not be able to move it.
• 4. At the second destination, we will be unable to use a crane truck to put the container into place as the added weight of having goods inside the container will be unsuitable for the truck type. So make sure you have a plan for which truck you think you will need to use based on the area and access available at both locations.
